2022. Heritage
On a day like any other I make myself a sandwich where generations blend together in the mayo and different periods of human history lie stacked on top of each other. A slice of turkey, lettuce, tomatoes and cheese. I take a bite and think of my foremothers and forefathers, relocation, Europe and immigrants. About vegetation, earth and fossils, the arts and the history of mankind.
A solo exhibition at Thula, Art Gallery, Reykjavík, Iceland.

Heritage
I was born with a silk ribbon in hand
which I grabbed on my way through the birth canal
and immediately grasped
that it was to be my anchor in life
silk ribbon on a spool
that every woman on my mother’s side has received
spun
and then passed on
it is best to close your eyes and look with your fingers
in order to untangle the knots
